     How to know when to honk--

  1.  Community involvement----3 minutes --Wasn’t actual Community Involvement

  2. The Community Members on the Committee were all muted as well Dec. 15th mtg

  3.  Who was and Why was the Jan. 5th Meeting cancelled?

            B.   Sabrina provided-----Certain Wards have no police problem.  

                                                 NAACP are beneficial and will keep pushing 

                 



  1. Motion:  That a community forum  for space to talk about experiences 

    with Newburgh police in collaboration with other community groups , outside 

    of police presence.

       Discussion included use of Flyers --Joy Young

           Motions for Hudson Valley  sessions to be explored for planning ---Kyle


  1. Membership /Election ---Melly shared increase in membership , and success 

    with using Election Buddy digital platform for voting in December Branch

     election.

VI.  Minutes (reading/corrections/additions):  

Read December Minutes--So Moved  Erik I., Seconded Glenda--- Approved


VII.  January 9th  State Meeting--Sabrina Dolfinger-Provided an overview of the State Meeting. 

 State Director, Hazel Dukes---Talked about direction for State NAACP  and what should be our 

focus:

  1. Capitol Violence/Sedition--Locals can address based on whether law enforcement

     or people attended riot

  2. State Director, Hazel Dukes,  charged each chapter with ensuring that members

     are in touch with their elected officials to make their voices heard.

  1. COVID vaccine: Governor’s representative, Shatodd Floyd stated that 

    he would participate in a forum to discuss the vaccine in it’s benefits to 

    “our” community

  2. Budget: Let’s communicate with the elected officials to ensure that our 

    communities get their fair share of all benefits

  1. Strategies:   

                  1. Economic Sustainability, Education, Health, Public Safety * Criminal Justice,  

Voting Right &      

                  Political Representation , Expanding Youth & Young Adult Engagement

  1. EO#203

 Other Branches talked about their experiences and concerns about process being 

glossed over


***NOTEWORTHY INFORMATION***



Debra Danzy informed the body that The House of Refuge was providing coats to 

anyone that showed up for a  while supplies last. 

She also informed the body that Mayor Harvey would be present at the Lake Street 

High Rise where COVID testing and PPE would be provided.  

She also advised that COVID 19 is spreading throughout her senior citizen dwelling 

despite her notifications to officials.
