In April of this year your NAACP described to the City Manager  and City Council the racial and gender disparities in hiring, police chief selection, and  police use of force.  We received a response after appearing at a June Council meeting.

----------Summary------------------
Since the June 12, 2020 signing of the executive order (EO#203) that is to address racial disparities in policing, your NAACP arranged meetings with the city.  One of those meetings took place and the next was cancelled by the city. 

Your NAACP formed  a subcommittee and is enacting a motions passed during a general meeting  to :
     1) that informed the City Manager (Chief Executive) and other decision urging , among other concerns,  that public forums, meeting norms with transparency and a timeline for completion be used
      2) support the Committee Chair our President Ray Harvey

and develop an action plan from the City of Newburgh developed for approval to secure future state funding is due to the State of New York  April 1, 2021 deadline. 

Your voice to identify changes that can be "tailored to the specific needs of the community" is needed for next steps .
