  • Continued work with Governor Cuomo to craft NYS Police Reform & Reinvention Collaborative Executive Order #203
  • Worked for the successful repeal of 50A-A repeal of 50-a for much needed transparency on police misconduct and discipline in New York State, and help address the systemic lack of accountability for officers who engage in misconduct. The support of legislation to repeal 50-a is included in the New York State 2020 Legislative Agenda

    *NAACP sued the U.S. Postal Service to restore prompt and reliable mail delivery, and to ensure that mail-in ballots are accorded priority status. 

    *The NAACP in Georgia moved to intervene in a lawsuit that would disenfranchise Black voters.

    *The NAACP in Georgia helped prevent the purge of more than 14,000 voters just before the election

Brown v. Board of Education 1954 of Topeka, Kansas. In this landmark decision, the Supreme Court held that segregation in public education violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.


During the mid-1940s, in Smith v. Allwright, Marshall successfully challenged “white primaries,” which prevented African Americans from voting in several southern states.

Murray v. Maryland, (1936) which resulted in the desegregation of the University of Maryland’s Law School
        
Gaines v. Canada, in which the U.S. Supreme Court ordered the admission of       a black student to the Law School at the University of Missouri (1938).

        General Meeting  First item: Developing our committees: What do members want to participate in and how can we actualize it? Police committee chairs want better communication

      Mid Hudson Times Police committee chairs want better communication Posted Wednesday, December 30, 2020 2:54 pm By CLOEY CALLAHAN The Executive Order 203 Oversight Committee, specifically chairman Ray Harvey and Malvina Holloway from NAACP, the Newburgh-Highland Falls Branch, have expressed their concerns on the City of Newburgh and its coordination and communication with the committee. Holloway and Harvey are calling for a more transparent collaboration for the committee, the city government and the public. Currently, there is no action plan put in place and the committee has been calling on the city to make changes for the committee, which would in turn allow them to work smoother and create a sound plan for the April 1 deadline they face as per Governor Andrew Cuomo’s orders.
