Thanks to all for Saturday's meeting.  Enclosed is information that is timely:
I.  COVID19 TESTING:
  a.   5/19/2020---TESTING Tues. 9am - 12noon ----
St. Patrick’s Church  , 55 Grand Street. Call 845-563-8000. Appt. recommended.  Walk-ins accepted.—Is right downtown.To be posted on our social media.

II.  Board of Ed Meetings and Elections--School district budget
  a.  School Board Nominations and Elections
IMPORTANT DATE & VOTING INFORMATION
In accordance with Executive Order No. 202.26, the Budget Vote and School Board Election will be held remotely, by Absentee Ballot only.
Expect qualified voters of this School District to receive absentee ballots by  May 26th.  
ABSENTEE BALLOTS WILL BE DUE BY JUNE 9, 2020  
  • Be sure to use your own envelop. 
  • Send in as soon as you receive.
  • June 9 is the deadline NOT POSTMARK date.
  • 5 Board member seats are expiring.  [Although May 11th passed and  listed as date to use the nomination form (attached IF extended)]

    b.  SPECIAL School Board MEETING Tues.  MAY 18TH  --

Consider:  We don’t know what the school budget is right now.  Needs to be presented during this week, and requested to be open to the public.

III. Membership 
As discussed during Saturday's general meeting,  confirm membership information and payment is now online and easy!  CLICK HERE.
Whether a longtime member or new, your filling out the membership form will allow the Branch to have complete information to  assure you are current for civil rights, equity and safety and strengthen your local NAACP.    Executive Board is modelling this will all updating their membership as well.   
Discussed during meeting: 
    Membership expired? 
    Have a youth membership and now an adult? 
    Have a Life membership, but not up to date in payment?
    Youth membership?  One, two, three, at at time.... fine.

When you are finished your information will be updated and more useful to have the support to thwart discrimination at the local level, and be included with city, and regional officials.

Motions Approved: 
  • Establish a phone number where the community has access to report harassment/discrimination complaints that all NAACP units follow.
  • General Meeting time --- 5:30pm on Saturdays after every second Thursday of each month

      Mid Hudson Times Police committee chairs want better communication Posted Wednesday, December 30, 2020 2:54 pm By CLOEY CALLAHAN The Executive Order 203 Oversight Committee, specifically chairman Ray Harvey and Malvina Holloway from NAACP, the Newburgh-Highland Falls Branch, have expressed their concerns on the City of Newburgh and its coordination and communication with the committee. Holloway and Harvey are calling for a more transparent collaboration for the committee, the city government and the public. Currently, there is no action plan put in place and the committee has been calling on the city to make changes for the committee, which would in turn allow them to work smoother and create a sound plan for the April 1 deadline they face as per Governor Andrew Cuomo’s orders.         General Meeting  First item: Developing our committees: What do members want to participate in and how can we actualize it?
