    Attending Caravan for Census ---Main.   Ray has been involved with Food banks distributing gloves and masks and Census.  Provided remarks at the June 8th 2020 City Council Meeting and is scheduled to speak at an event in Walden, NY  6/14/2020.  Ray attended the weekly Regional meeting with Melly , Acting Secretary and  Education Chair, Tanika.  An Education assignment was given specifically to  Education Chairs to led an understanding  effort for  change/improvement.  We are focusing our activity in the following areas:  Education, Voting registration and information, Legislation, Membership, and Census.

 Newburgh Reopening committee

   Ray was invited to be on the committee.  Tanika McCullough, Education Chair attended—and is on the Social Emotional Team.  Sabrina (Newburgh teacher)  shared some information with  Tanika during (6/11/2020) Executive Committee meeting and urged informing the public/community separate meeting.  Making sure there is transparency with the process, to best serve our families. (Need to follow up with Highland Falls process )

Community Engagement----Kyle Conway

   Attended 4 protests and made contacts for membership

Health -------------------------Darcel Turner-Green

   Wants to work to establish a coop.  Ray to connect her with Councilman Grice who also has same interest.

   Shared a salad recipe.

New Business:

·      Newburgh Census count--------37.8% --------Census 2020

Rhoda:  suggested census site for lower Broadway or by a church to assist people

Mary E.:  With voting and registering , set up at a grocery store to boost census

 

Motion:  To explore and organize a site frequented by people for necessities to boost census numbers in the City of Newburgh.    The Census grant would sponsor the effort.

      Mid Hudson Times Police committee chairs want better communication Posted Wednesday, December 30, 2020 2:54 pm By CLOEY CALLAHAN The Executive Order 203 Oversight Committee, specifically chairman Ray Harvey and Malvina Holloway from NAACP, the Newburgh-Highland Falls Branch, have expressed their concerns on the City of Newburgh and its coordination and communication with the committee. Holloway and Harvey are calling for a more transparent collaboration for the committee, the city government and the public. Currently, there is no action plan put in place and the committee has been calling on the city to make changes for the committee, which would in turn allow them to work smoother and create a sound plan for the April 1 deadline they face as per Governor Andrew Cuomo’s orders.         General Meeting  First item: Developing our committees: What do members want to participate in and how can we actualize it?
